New shape‐stabilized phase change materials obtained by single‐screw extruder

Shape-stabilized phase change materials (SS-PCM) are promising given their potential to control leakage of liquid PCM. However, SS-PCM still has low thermal conductivity and high flammability, which important properties for several applications, such as the indoor comfort in buildings. In this study, two new polymeric were developed optimized by use different additives. Both high-density polyethylene (HDPE) polyoxymethylene (POM) work matrix MPCM 28 from Microtek acts Besides, graphite was used an additive material increase conductivity, magnesium hydroxide minimize flammability composite. inorganic fillers also help PCM dispersion within matrix. To evaluate effect each component, seven formulations manufactured a single screw extruder set characterization (Differential scanning calorimetry, Thermogravimetric analyses, thermophysical evaluation, dynamical mechanical thermomechanical evaluation over 1000 cycles performed. The main outputs investigation proposed that have good fire reaction performance, whereas chemical stability guaranteed up cycles. HDPE samples present around 12 kJ/kg melting enthalpy when 10 wt% microencapsulated is included formulation. addition, POM 7.5 For all formulations, obtained 27.5°C, concordance with reported manufacturer.
